As a little girl, Shanee always loved babies. After High School she pursued her nursing career graduating in 2007 with her Associates in Science as well as her Associates in Nursing from American River College. Shanee then landed her dream job in a high acuity Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Shanee later attended the University of California, Sacramento where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree in 2013. During her over ten years as a NICU nurse, Shanee specialized in newborns with gastrointestinal complications. Nutritional concerns with these babies led her down the path of learning more about the critical role breastmilk plays in overall health and wellness. She pursued her Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) certification in 2015 and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification in 2017. Although Breastfeeding support for families was part of her entire career as a NICU nurse, Shanee had a stronger desire to help families with their breastfeeding concerns in the outpatient setting. This led her to leave the NICU in 2018 to provide outpatient support in the Placer County area to hundreds of moms and babies. She is very passionate about staying up to date on all things related to tethered oral tissues. It is very important to Shanee that mom, dad and baby receive the best support, guidance, and encouragement during their own unique breastfeeding journey.
